Pilot Training

Earn your Pilot Certificate in as little as 2 Months Full-Time or 4 months/Part-time


  • *All training conducted in Piper PA28-180 Aircraft
    Private Pilot Certificate

        The Private Pilot certificate is the "first step" for most pilots, especially for those who intend to pursue a career in aviation. The Private Pilot certificate qualifies you to act as pilot-in-command of an aircraft carrying passengers and baggage. The private pilot (who does not hold an instrument rating) may only fly under good weather conditions (VFR).
    Requirements
    • Must be at least 17 years of age.
    • Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language.
    • Must hold at least a third-class medical certificate.
    • Must receive an endorsement from an instructor certifying that the applicant is prepared for the knowledge test.
    • Must pass a knowledge test.
    • Must log at least 40 hours of flight time that includes at least 20 hours of flight training from an authorized instructor and 10 hours of solo flight training.
    • Must receive an endorsement from an instructor certifying that the applicant is prepared for the practical test.
    • Must pass a practical flight test with a Designated Flight Examiner.
    Privileges & Limitations
    • May not fly for compensation or hire.
    • May only fly during visual flight rules (VFR) weather conditions (unless the pilot holds an instrument rating).

     All Training in Piper P28A-180 Aircraft or in your Aircraft

    Instrument Rating in Actual IFR Conditions

        The instrument rating equips you with the exacting skills needed to fly in the clouds and under conditions of reduced visibility. This rating is the most frequent "next step" taken by private pilots seeking to advance their aeronautical education.
    Requirements
    • Must hold at least a current private pilot certificate.
    • Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language.
    • Must receive an endorsement from an instructor certifying that the applicant is prepared for the knowledge test.
    • Must pass a knowledge test.
    • Must have logged at least 50 hours of cross-country flight time as pilot-in-command.
    • Must log at least 40 hours of actual or simulated instrument time that includes at least 15 hours of instrument flight training from an authorized instructor
    • Must receive an endorsement from an instructor certifying that the applicant is prepared for the practical test.
    • Must pass a practical flight test with a Designated Flight Examiner.
    Privileges & Limitations
    • May fly in category and class for which authorized with less than visual flight rule minimums.

    Commercial Pilot Certificate 
        Although it is a standard check-off for the person planning to fly for a living, the commercial certificate also is a good way for the recreational flier to gain increased confidence and become more professional in the cockpit. 

     

    Requirements
    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language.
    • Must hold at least a Private Pilot certificate.
    • Must hold at least a second-class medical certificate to exercise the privileges of the Commercial Certificate.
    • Must receive an endorsement from an instructor certifying that the applicant is prepared for the knowledge test.
    • Must pass a knowledge test.
    • Must log at least 250 hours of flight time as a pilot and must meet the aeronautical experience requirements of FAR 61.129.
    • Must receive an endorsement from an instructor certifying that the applicant is prepared for the practical test.
    • Must pass a practical flight test with a Designated Flight Examiner.
    Privileges & Limitations
    • May act as pilot in command of an aircraft carrying persons or property for compensation or hire.

    Multi-Engine $ Call (Add-on to Private Certificate)

        Another common upgrade to the private pilot certificate is the multiengine rating. This qualifies you to fly "twins," or airplanes with two engines.
    Requirements
    • Must have at least 3 hours of cross-country flight training in a multiengine airplane.
    • Must have at least 3 hours of night flight training in a multiengine airplane.
    • Must have at least 3 hours of instrument flight training in a multiengine airplane.
    • Must have at least 3 hours of training in preparation for the practical test.
    • Must be capable of performing all private maneuvers in a multi-engine aircraft.
    • Must receive an endorsement from an instructor certifying that the applicant is prepared for the practical test.
    • Must pass a practical flight test with a Designated Flight Examiner.
    Privileges & Limitations
    • May fly a multi-engine aircraft with private pilot privileges. A high performance endorsement is required to fly a multi-engine aircraft having engines over two hundred horsepower.

     

     

    Multi-Engine $ Call (Add-on to Commercial)

       Another common upgrade to the Commercial pilot certificate is the multiengine rating. This qualifies you to fly "twins," or airplanes with two engines. The multi is a virtual necessity for pilots planning a career in aviation.
    Requirements
    • Must have at least 2 hours of day VFR cross-country training time.
    • Must have at least 2 hours of night VFR cross-country training.
    • Must have at least one cross-country flight of not less than 300 nautical miles.
    • Must have at least 5 hours of instrument training.
    • Must have at least 10 hours in a multi-engine aircraft with retractable gear, flaps, and a constant speed prop.
    • Must have at least 5 hours at night with 10 takeoffs and landings at a controlled field.
    • Must have at least 3 hours of training in preparation for the practical test.
    • Must be capable of performing all commercial maneuvers in a multi-engine aircraft.
    • Must receive an endorsement from an instructor certifying that the applicant is prepared for the practical test.
    • Must pass a practical flight test with a Designated Flight Examiner.
    Privileges & Limitations
    • May fly a multi-engine aircraft with commercial pilot privileges. A high performance endorsement is required to fly a multi-engine aircraft having engines over two hundred horsepower.
    • Non-instrument rated pilots have very limited commercial flight privileges.
